    Dr. Wm. James Davis is a behavioral
ecologist with a special interest in how animals communicate. While a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, Jim studied Belted Kingfishers, and while working as a Post-doctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama he studied Amazon Kingfishers.

   While living in Australia, Jim was editor of a science magazine called Interpretive Birding and has subsequently published two books. Several years ago he started Terra Naturalist Publishing
   Currently, he spends as much time as possible filming and writing about wildlife while paying special attention to species with interesting and unique evolutionary adaptations. Many of his stories and observations are posted on this website.
